Blending Experience – Soursop “Guyabano” Juice
I have been fascinated with juicing with my blender. I have tried many combinations of fruits and vegetables and I’m learning different techniques. I can really feel the difference when I consume something healthy into my body, especially after my operation. Whenever I consume nutritious food, my body feels healthier, but whenever I consume processed foods my body seems weaker, and I easily become sick. I’m learning to pay more attention to my body and how it reacts to different foods I eat. A few months ago it started getting hot and I was always feel thirsty. Water alone was not satisfying to me and I started to drink cold soft drinks more frequently. It was very satisfying and it quenches my thirst, but after a few days, whoolah! I develop a urinary tract infection (UTI). Even though I know what is right for my body, I let my cravings and temptations get the best of me. I need to have self-discipline when it comes to my health, but it is an internal struggle.
When I started juicing with my blender, I quickly developed a love for drinking more fruits or vegetables. The Soursop blended juice is one of my favorites, next to my Simple Detox Blended Juice Recipe. This juice is just so simple that you only need this fruit “Soursop” and water or if you want the juice to be sweeter, you may add a little raw honey. Soursop fruit tastes delicious by itself but sometimes I add a few strawberries and pineapple, it makes a smoothie that has a little creaminess with a little bit of sourness from citrus fruit. Soursop is an incredibly powerful fruit. Soursop is known worldwide, but has not gained full popularity yet in the United States. Southern Florida states are starting to grow Soursop, which is also known as guanabana in Spanish or Guyabano in the Philippines. It is very popular in Southeast Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and the Pacific and has been proclaimed a possible cancer treatment; it attacks cancer cells without any side effects such as nausea, weight loss, or hair loss. Just remember that some fruit seeds should not be consumed in large quantities, for instance soursop seeds contain annonacin, which is a neurotoxin, just as apple seeds contain arsenic. The way I feel after drinking Soursop makes me realize how marvelous it is to discover one of God’s amazing creations, for my own health benefit. I have been struggling with UTIs for a very long time; if I consume soursop regularly, it prevents me from getting a UTI. I know that it is known for preventing UTIs, but I didn’t realize how well it actually works. I’ve also read that it is an excellent source of vitamin C, which helps increase the acidity level of urine and reduces harmful bacteria present in the urinary tract.
I have been drinking my Soursop blended juice on a regular basis lately and I have not had one UTI. I have also started to drink less soft drinks =).
